Kiss the Fae by Natalia Jaster

Description from Goodreads:

Spicy enemies to lovers NA/adult fantasy romance for fans of Labyrinth and Sarah J. Maas.

There are three rules to surviving the Fae—and I’m about to break every single one.

Rule #1. Never cross into Faerie.

When I’m chased across the enchanted border and caught by its sinister ruler of the sky, the pretty trickster with a clever tongue offers me a deal.

Rule #2: Never bargain with a Fae.

But I don’t have a choice. For thirteen days, I have to survive in his mountainous maze of crooked bridges, deceptive stairways, and devious inhabitants. Refuse, and my sisters will suffer as punishment.

Rule #3: Never fall for the enemy.

I should have known my sexy captor wouldn’t play fair. The deeper I plunge into this dangerous world of Solitary Fae, the more I’m entangled in their ruler’s seductive web of desire—and the forbidden temptations he offers.

The price of losing this wicked game is everything I love. But winning might just cost me my heart.

WARNING: This is steamy NA/New Adult fantasy romance with explicit sexual content and language. For mature readers 18+.

For fans of Sarah J. Maas, Jennifer L. Armentrout, Holly Black, Laura Thalassa, Raven Kennedy, and CN Crawford.

Kiss the Fae is the first book in Natalia Jaster's spicy fantasy romance series, Vicious Faeries. If you like slow burns, heavy steam, enemies to lovers, and sexy anti-heroes, be prepared to swoon for the villain.

My Review:

I borrowed this book on a whim from Amazon as it is part of the Amazon Prime collection. One of my favorite book boxes announced a special edition set for this series and I figured I would check it out since I haven't heard of this series before.

I will say I really liked the plot and the little world-building that there was. I do wish there was a bit more world-building. You only are really told it's humans vs the fae but never fully expanded upon. It would have been great to have learned about each world more. I really liked the idea of the game and how all sisters win or none do. I thought that raised the stakes quite nicely.

I honestly was not a fan of Lark. The author kept trying to portray her as a spunky hot female but she was just plain annoying to me. Not that I expected her to be respectful as she was literally kidnapped by the fae, but her many remarks were tasteless and really weren't witty. There were many times I wished she would just stop talking. Cerulean wasn't as bad. I understood his character a lot more and appreciated the reasons for his behavior that are revealed later on in the story. The romance between them was okay. It heavily relied on their past rather than getting to know each other currently. I feel like they didn't actually bond much. The spicy scenes were top-notch thought. I really enjoyed those. So if you're looking for some good spicy scenes, you got them right here.

Overall, I probably wouldn't buy this book or the others. I am intrigued enough to read the rest. Either I will borrow them from my library or get them through Kindle Unlimited. The book was just an average book for me. Not super terrible but not impressive either. But who knows, I may like the other books if Lark's sisters aren't as annoying as her.
